Kurniawan Sabar, Director, Institute for Nationalist and Democracy Studies (INDIES, Indonesia). Mr. Kurniawan Sabar started as a student leader, rural community organizer in Indonesia and went on to developing advocacy and campaigns on people’s rights to land, food sovereignty, and the environment as Co-coordinator of Food Sovereignty Program – Friends of the Earth Asia Pacific.  Since 2007 he has been active in various publications, research, and scientific meetings in the local, national, regional and international levels as member of the Southeast Asia Sub-region Coordinating Committee of the Civil Society Mechanism (CC-CSM) of the UN FAO and the Rural Constituency of CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE). He is the current Director of the Institute for National and Democracy Studies (INDIES) which does policy, research and campaign work on the issues of people’s rights, democracy and development.
